The Aitchison family opened The Queen (formerly known as 'The Queen's Head Inn') on the 16th July 2015.
At The Queen, we have our own kitchen garden which takes up to a third of vegetables as well as herbs and garnish from the garden for the pub. This means dishes focus more on the vegetables. Also, because we have to preserve our gardens harvest to sustain us through the winter, we use a lot of traditional preserving methods, such as pickling, fermenting and clamping.
Harriet is supported by her family and her fantastic kitchen and front of house teams. Our aim at The Queen has always been to produce good quality food while maintaining the casual, welcoming atmosphere of an English country pub.
After a very busy and successful two years, setting up the Queen and turning it in to an award winning pub restaurant, Alexander has decided to have a break from daily chefing. He leaves behind two very capable chefs, Ed Martin and Richard Branch, they have been working with Alexander from the beginning and want to carry on with the established ethos of the pub:
Locally Produced! Beautifully Cooked! Simplicity Redefined!
