Alexander Aitchison and family opened The Queen (formerly known as 'The Queen's Head Inn') on the 16th July 2015.
Head Chef & Landlord, Alexander Aitchison spent 7 years as a chef in Edinburgh before moving to Suffolk in 2015. Alexander has previously worked at some of the best restaurants in Edinburgh including Timber Yard and Bon Vivant and spent time aboard MV Hebridean Princess.
At The Queen, Alexander has built his own kitchen garden and takes up to a third of vegetables as well as herbs and garnish from the garden for the pub. This means dishes focus more on the vegetables. Also, having trained in Scotland and because we have to preserve our gardens harvest to sustain us through the winter, he use a lot of traditional preserving methods, such as pickling, fermenting and clamping.
Alexander is supported by his family and his fantastic kitchen and front of house teams. Our aim at The Queen has always been to produce good quality food while maintaining the casual, welcoming atmosphere of an English country pub.
